Students Visit Bell Labs

Materials Science and Engineering Professor Siu-Wai Chan and two of her students, Xinyi Ma and Kunlun Wu, recently had the opportunity to visit the iconic Bell Labs headquarters in Murray Hill, New Jersey. Known as one of the birthplaces of modern technology, Bell Labs has a long-standing legacy of groundbreaking innovations—from the transistor to information theory.

Now operated by Finnish tech giant Nokia, Bell Labs continues to push the boundaries of research and development in communications and information technology. During their visit, Prof. Chan and her students explored the cutting-edge work currently underway and gained firsthand insight into the lab’s enduring impact on science and engineering
