He is the manager of the Plasma Physics Laboratory and chief research technician on the HBT-EP Tokamak. In addition, he manages, maintains, and instructs in the Applied Physics Teaching Laboratory and machine shop. He has a B.S. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with a broad concentration in mathematics, physics, and philosophy.

His expertise is troubleshooting and expeditious repair, adhering to the principle of minimizing experimental downtime while ensuring safety. He has supervised many students, played a significant role in countless experiments, designed and manufactured a multitude of instruments, installed hundreds of diagnostics and upgrades to both large and benchtop physics experiments, and supported decades of Ph.D. theses and publications.

Besides his passion for scientific instruments, he enjoys the theory, construction, and playing of musical instruments and never met a genre of music he doesn't like. He also has a keen interest in exercise physiology and competed in numerous running and bike races.
