The Impact of the QBO on MJO Convection in Cloud-Resolving Simulations

Feb 26 2019

APAM Ph.D. candidate, Zane Martin, and APAM Associate Research Scientist, Dr. Shuguang Wang, were first authors on a study published by the Journal of Atmospheric Sciences which examines the relationship between the Madden–Julian Oscillation (MJO) and the stratospheric quasi-biennial oscillation (QBO) in a limited-area cloud-resolving model with parameterized large-scale dynamics.

The study, titled “The Impact of the QBO on MJO Convection in Cloud-Resolving Simulations,” includes contributions from Ji Nie, from Peking University, and Adam Sobel, Professor of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics and of Earth and Environmental Sciences. https://doi.org/10.1175/JAS-D-18-0179.1
