APAM Chair, Marc Spiegelman Makes Columbia’s Photo of the Week

Prof. Marc Spiegelman, APAM Department Chair, the Arthur D. Storke Memorial Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Professor of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics, took part in the 2026 Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory Open House in Palisades, NY.

A tradition dating back to at least 1949, the annual event welcomed Columbians, neighbors, and guests to explore the campus through hands-on activities, demonstrations, and installations, including bathtub science, trash can volcanoes, glacial goo, and rocks from space.

Prof. Spiegelman’s playful demonstration, dancing in a bathtub of oobleck, was featured as Columbia’s Photo of the Week!
