Angela Liu (BS’02, MS’02), China CEO of Barclays Bank PLC and Columbia Engineering alumna, will return to Columbia to share insights from her career in global finance.

Open to undergraduate and graduate students, the upcoming career talk will offer a behind-the-scenes look at Global Markets at Barclays and explore how technical and quantitative skills can translate into careers in finance.

Liu leads Barclays’ China growth initiatives across Global Markets, Investment Banking, and Corporate Banking. In her role, she focuses on strengthening the firm’s cross-border platform and connecting Chinese corporations and financial institutions with capital markets across Asia Pacific, the UK, Europe, and the Americas.

Liu brings more than 20 years of experience in the banking industry, with expertise in capital markets, complex product structuring and distribution, and regional client coverage. Before joining Barclays, she was Head of the Institutional Client Group, China and Hong Kong, at Deutsche Bank and spent more than 17 years at Morgan Stanley in New York and Hong Kong.

A magna cum laude graduate of Columbia University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Applied Mathematics, Liu’s career illustrates the diverse opportunities available to students with strong technical and quantitative training.

The talk will provide students with an opportunity to hear directly from a Columbia alumna about her career journey and learn more about the intersection of mathematics, technology, and finance.
