Faculty Position in Applied Physics/Plasma Physics
The Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics (APAM) at Columbia University in New York City invites applications for tenured or tenure-track faculty positions. Appointments at all levels, including assistant professor, associate professor and full professor, will be considered. Priority areas include Energy, Scientific Computing, and Industrial Applications. Outstanding candidates who are experts in specific areas including, but not limited to, fusion plasma physics, basic plasma physics, laser-plasma interactions, the space plasma environment, and innovative plasma applications, and who can make significant contributions to the above priority areas are particularly welcome to apply.
Candidates must have a PhD degree and are expected to establish a strong research program and excel in teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses. This position begins during the 2010-2011 academic year.

or Optical Physics
The Materials Science and Applied Physics programs in the
Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics at Columbia
University seek to fill the Philips Electronics Chair, recently endowed
in honor of Professor Gertrude Neumark. The appointment will be at the
senior (tenured) level. The search is open to all areas of experimental
and computational materials science, condensed matter and optical
physics. A doctoral degree in a relevant science/engineering discipline
is required.
